OptionsKing

OptionsKing vs OptionStrat

OptionStrat draws options positions better than anything on this site. It is built around a strategy builder, an optimizer and an unusual-flow feed, which suits a trader with a directional view. OptionsKing has no view on direction and screens premium-selling candidates against a fixed confidence bar.

Start with what OptionStrat is aimed at. You think a stock goes to $180 by October, and you want to know which structure expresses that best. Their optimizer searches for it. That is a buyer's question, or at least a directional one.

Premium selling starts somewhere else. You already own 200 shares of a thing you intend to keep owning, and the question is whether selling a call against it this month is worth the capped upside. Nothing about that needs a price target.

What OptionStrat does better

Payoff visualization. The strategy builder draws a multi-leg position better than anything on this site, and the optimizer searching for a structure that fits a price target is genuinely clever. If you put on anything with three or four legs, use their builder. The free calculator on this site draws two legs and stops, which is fine for a covered call and useless for a broken-wing butterfly.

What OptionsKing does differently

A payoff diagram tells you what happens if the stock lands somewhere. It does not tell you whether the option is worth selling. Those are different questions and the second one is where the money leaks: the spread you cross, the open interest that means you will not get the mid, the earnings date sitting four days before expiry.

OptionsKing scores those checks into one deterministic number, refuses everything under 60, and defaults to 75. It has nothing to say about whether NVDA is going up.

The other half is the ledger. The app records what you actually collected on the trades you told it you took, including the ones that went badly, and reports the real number against what you would have made just holding the shares. Most tools in this category stop at the idea. Whether the idea worked is the only question that pays you.

Where OptionsKing is weak

It is new. Neither app is in the App Store or on Google Play yet, so today it runs in a browser and that is the whole distribution story. It covers 60 tickers on the public data pages, not five thousand. It does one strategy family, premium selling, and it has nothing to say about spreads, calendars, or anything you would put on in a directional bet.

And the gate cuts both ways. On the first public snapshot, taken in a dead-flat low-volatility tape, not one strike across all 60 names cleared the 75 bar. Zero. A screener with a looser bar would have handed you a full page of ideas that week, and some of them would have worked out fine.

OptionStrat is also a genuinely well-made piece of software with a free tier that is useful on its own. Being better at drawing than we are is not a small thing when the drawing is the point.

Questions people actually ask

Does OptionsKing have a payoff diagram?

Yes, at the payoff diagram builder, and it is free with no account. OptionStrat's builder is better for anything with more than two legs.

Which is better for covered calls?

OptionsKing, because that is the only thing it does. OptionStrat will draw a covered call payoff beautifully and will not tell you the chain is too thin to get filled near the mid.

Is OptionStrat free?

There is a free tier on delayed data. Live Tools is $39.99 a month and Live Flow is $99.99 a month, both with a 7-day trial. Confirm the current tiers on their site.
